Privacy Policy
Summary
PayTracker stores all your financial data only on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal or financial information with any server, third party, or advertiser.
1. Introduction
PayTracker is a personal finance tracking app for Android that automatically records UPI and bank transactions by reading payment notifications and SMS messages on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what information is accessed, how it is used, and what rights you have.
2. Information We Access
Payment Notifications
The app reads notifications from UPI payment apps to extract:
- Transaction Amount
- Recipient / sender name
- Transaction type (credit or debit)
- UPI reference ID
Supported apps: Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, FreeCharge, MobiKwik.
SMS Messages
The app reads incoming SMS from bank sender IDs (e.g., SBIUPI, HDFCBK, ICICIB, AXISBK) to extract transaction details. The SMS inbox is also read as a fallback to catch missed transactions.
OTPs, personal messages, and non-financial SMS are ignored and never stored.
3. How We Use This Information
- To record and display your credit and debit transactions
- To avoid duplicate entries using UPI reference IDs
- To show your transaction history within the app
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or analytics.
4. Data Storage
- All data is stored locally on your device only in a private database
- No data is ever uploaded to any server
- We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, or any third-party analytics or advertising SDK
- Data is retained until you uninstall the app or delete records manually
5. Permissions
The following Android permissions are requested by PayTracker:

| Receive SMS | Capture incoming bank transaction SMS messages in real time for automatic transaction tracking. |
| Read SMS | Access SMS inbox as a fallback method to identify missed or delayed transaction messages. |
| Post Notifications | Display alerts, confirmations, and notifications when transactions are successfully saved. |
| Foreground Service | Keep background services running reliably for continuous transaction monitoring. |
| Receive Boot Completed | Automatically restart background services after device reboot to ensure uninterrupted functionality. |
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to any third party. All data stays on your device.
7. Data Security
Transaction data is stored in the app's private directory, which is inaccessible to other apps. Android's built-in app sandboxing protects this data. No data ever leaves your device.
8. Children's Privacy
PayTracker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
9. Your Controls
- Revoke permissions anytime in device Settings — app will stop capturing new transactions
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
- View your data directly inside the app — no data exists anywhere else
10. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
